Tasting Notes:

Good color intensity. A warmer vintage as 22 has been, is reflected on the nose by more red fruit instead of blue one. The nose profile is riper and less green than usual. Red cherries and strawberries on the nose and a hint of earthiness show up. On the background, an elegant licorice note appears, imparting complexity. In the mouth you can easily appreciate the body and weight of the wine, kept in balance with a nice and elegant level of extraction. Tannins are silky and more refined. Acidity is there and gives freshness. An aftertaste of dried herbs is the distinctive feature of a cool climate Pinot Noir.

Idealy served at 14-16ºC with charcuterie, cold meats and pâtés. Spring vegetables such as peas or grilled asparagus with goat cheese.

Winemaker Notes:

The fruit is partially destemmed and cold soaked for 2-3 days. Selected yeasts were inoculated and once the alcoholic fermentation began, we started managing the cap with both punch downs and pumping over. We kept an eye on avoiding over extraction towards the end of primary fermentation. Malolactic fermentation was induced by inoculating the wine with selected lactic bacteria.

12% of the young wine was drained to Slavonian oak cask for 10 months. The remainder wine was kept in tank on the fine lees and racked only once, before the final blend was made. The first bottling occurred on 16th of October 2023 and a total of 5.600 cases were made.

Vineyard located within the coolest, westernmost reaches of the Casablanca Valley. Grown on flatter soils and planted between 1999 and 2008, equipped with drip irrigation. Crop levels are an average of 6 tons per hectare (2.4 tons per acre). . The 2021 winter was dry (only 100mm of rains), followed by a warm summer, and then a rather cool beginning of the fall season. The fruit was hand harvested by the beginning of April.

From the Casablanca Valley, single vineyard, Casas del Bosque Estate, Casablanca.

Terroir/Soil: Tapihue Sandy Loam and Lo Vasquez Clay Loam soils. The vineyard is 18 km from the Pacific Ocean at 250 m altitude.
