Stratum Pinot Noir 2019

Stratum Pinot Noir 2019
Country: New Zealand
Winery: Stratum
Varietal: Pinot Noir
UPC Code: 682302270826
Tasting Notes:

1/17/20
A brilliant ruby red color leads to a nose that is loaded with assorted, lifted red fruit, raspberry, cherry and plum with an engaging spicy top note and a touch of earthy, stemminess that adds nuance and intrigue. Medium bodied and backed with sleek tannins that gives this a round, silky textural feel. the core of red fruit flavors are vibrant and fresh with enough detail on the finish to keep you coming back for more. Polished and loaded with vibrancy and freshness this should show well over the next 3 plus years quite easily

Winemaker Notes:

The Stratum 2019 Pinot Noir was harvested from grapes grown in the heart of Waipara Valley from six of our premium vineyard sites. A hot dry 2019 mid summer period allowed the grapes to ripen with no disease issues. Vineyard management included trimming and leaf plucking giving the grape bunches good exposure to the sun, contributing to the ripeness and lack of disease. Harvest started in late March with warm dry conditions, allowing for the grapes to undergo an extended fermentation on skins up to 21 days. Five months of French oak maturation followed prior to bottling.
