Sherwood Signature Pinot Noir 2018

Don’t let the wines lighter color or lower alcohol (12% by volume) fool you as this packs some serious fruit intensity and beautiful fruit purity on its medium bodied frame. The nose is quite engaging playing in the range of floral notes/rose petal and spice working in harmony with the bright red fruit tones of raspberry, cranberry and pomegranate. The aromatics carry over into the palate where you get the vibrancy of the assorted red fruit flavors that is juicy with lovely purity and precision while the tannins, as light as they are, have just the right amount of tension to really focus everything bringing this to a lengthy finish. This should offer some impressive drinking over the next 3-4 years
The 2018 Sherwood Pinot Noir displays ripe, sweet dark fruit notes with an edge of subtle oak complexity on the nose. The palate is rich and round, supported by fine grain tannins.
Selected parcels of Pinot Noir from our Sandy Creek Vineyard have gone into producing our 2018 Sherwood Pinot Noir. Harvesting the fruit early April in great conditions it was transported to the winery and tipped into 5-tonne fermenters. After a six-day cool soak, the fermentation began on its own accord. The cap was hand plunged twice a day over the 17-day skin contact period. The wine was then pressed off skins, aged for 5 months in barrel, lightly blended, fined and bottled.
