Nugan Estate Third Generation Chardonnay 2020

*Vegan friendly*
Pale straw in appearance, this wine is vibrant, with white stone fruit and grapefruit and ginger spice. This leads to a palate with superfine acidity and superb balance.
Perfect with poultry and seafood dishes. Try with crispy salmon fillets. This wine, along with many other wines from Nugan Estate, is also vegan friendly.
The Third Generation range of wines is named after Matthew Nugan’s generation of the family. They are the third generation of the Nugan family since emigrating to Australia in 1938. The Third Generation range of wines is all about being varietally correct to the fruit. The wines all maintain a very fruit forward nose and they are very nice drinking wines without being too fussy. We grow the grapes for our Third Generation Chardonnay in the Riverina and we affectionately call this wine “sunshine in a glass”.
This wine has beautiful fruit, tropical flavours and pineapple. When we harvest the grapes for this wine we cool the parcels and we clarify the juice before fermentation. You can smell typical chardonnay aromas and then we age this in French oak predominantly it is fantastic, crisp and zesty on the palate.
The key to all these wines is just a little bit of oak so you can taste the varieties. The wine is nice and balance, crisp and just beautiful. Enjoy this with poultry or fish.
To retain the delicate and natural aromas and flavours of the fruit, we crush and lightly press select parcels of fruit prior to clarification and cool fermentation. Fermentation is undertaken at cool temperatures to preserve much of the delicate fruit flavours. We then place the wine in the presence of French oak, adding spice and complexity to the blend.
