Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Syrah 2015

Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Syrah 2015 Hi-Res Label
Country: Chile
Winery: Casas del Bosque
Varietal: Shiraz (Syrah)
UPC Code: 697412000379
Tasting Notes:

Sourced from a high vineyard sight with close proximity to the Pacific Ocean overlooking the Casablanca Valley, the 2015 Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Syrah is a beautiful expression of a cool climate Syrah. The nose offers notes of light white pepper, some olive brininess and a meaty spice tone over blackberry fruit. Medium fuller bodied and sleekly textured, this shows good energy and vibrancy in the mouth to the black berry fruit flavors, while the tannins are fine tuned leading to a dry finish with some of the savory, meaty tones coming through on the backend. Just now starting to open up, if you drink now, decant or let breathe before consuming. Otherwise give this another year and enjoy over the next couple of years after that

Winemaker Notes:

On arrival at the winery all grapes were de-stemmed and crushed to open-top tanks. The must was then warmed and inoculated with selected yeasts (Assmanhaussen and RC212) and fermented during 10 days with temperatures peaking at 32ºC/90ºF. During fermentation the vats were hand-plunged twice daily in order to extract the ideal amount of tannin and color. Following the completion of fermentation the wine was drained off (after a total maceration time of 9 days) and put to barrel. The wine was aged for a total of 6 months in second use French oak barrels before being bottled with minimal filtration.
